Active Glass Trade

What once started as a paint and wallpaper store on Fannius Scholtestraat has grown into Glashandel Actief, located at Marnixstraat 102 in Amsterdam. The old founder, father, and grandfather, Anton Meijer, started Glashandel Actief on May 1, 1963, working from home. His wife worked as a secretary. When both sons were old enough, they joined the business, resulting in them taking over the company on August 1, 1976. As the company continued to grow, the brothers decided to open a store on Marnixstraat, across from the current location, on February 21, 1981. It soon became clear that this building was not suitable for storage and retail, so they were forced to look for another location. This became the opposite, Marnixstraat 102. In 2002, the brothers separated, and Rob Meijer decided to continue his father's life's work. It is still a family business today, with the wife and children contributing, just as it once started with father, mother, two sons, and a daughter.
