What for years was an empty building on Hoofdstraat 67 in Gorssel is getting a new future as a green and future-proof place to live. The former post office, later known as the Eye Center, stood empty for a long time and defined the street scene. The building has now been transformed into a modern residential building with nine sustainable apartments, right in the heart of the village.

From vacancy to new residential quality

The building experienced a long period of vacancy and deterioration. For years the building was an eyesore for local residents. The redevelopment of this location marks an important moment for Gorssel: a forgotten place is making way for new housing that meets the need for comfortable and energy-efficient apartments.

Nine apartments for one- and two-person households will be realized in the existing building, divided between rental and owner-occupied units. Thus, the project contributes to a diverse housing offer in the village.

New living in the heart of Gorssel

The apartments are designed with attention to comfort, sustainability and future-proof living. The central location on the Hoofdstraat ensures that residents live within walking distance of stores, restaurants and other amenities. At the same time, the nature surrounding Gorssel is within easy reach, which makes this location extra attractive.

The project is completely gas-free and meets modern requirements in terms of energy and living quality.

The role of BENGglas®.

For this project, BENGglas® supplied the insulation glass. The glass was installed by J. van de Plas in completely new window frames. By choosing high-quality insulating glass, heat loss is greatly reduced and the homes contribute to low energy consumption.

Thanks to this combination, the apartments achieve energy label A+++, resulting in high living comfort and lower energy costs for the residents for up to 50 years. The applied solution is thus in line with the ambition to build sustainably with an eye to the future.

Subsidy benefits for insulation and window frames

The application of BENGglas® in combination with new window frames also offers financial benefits. Those who choose this combination can take advantage of a subsidy of € 111 per m² (report code: other).

When combined with additional insulation measures, such as roof or floor insulation, the subsidy amount is even doubled. This makes investing in high-quality insulation extra attractive and lowers the threshold for making existing buildings future-proof.

More than just new construction

The redevelopment of the property at 67 Main Street demonstrates how existing buildings can be given a new function that suits current housing demand. By tackling vacancy and investing in sustainable solutions, this project contributes to a livable and vital village center.

The project in Gorssel is thus a good example of how redevelopment, energy-efficient building and living comfort come together in one plan.
