How do you recognize BENG glass?

BENG glass vacuum glass looks different from standard insulation glass (with air or gas) and from other vacuum glass brands in several ways. Using the characteristics below, you can easily check whether you have actually received BENG glass.

1. The insulation value

BENG glass achieves insulation values of U=0.35, 0.40 or 0.50 with a glass thickness from 8.3 mm.
This combination of very thin glass and extremely low U-value does not exist with traditional insulating glass.

Do you have a thin pane, but a U-value higher than 0.50? Then in any case it is not BENG glass, but probably another vacuum glass brand.

2. The absorption strips

Along one of the long sides of the glass you will find one or more narrow absorption strips. The number depends on the size of the pane.

The exact position is shown in our technical drawings.
Does the location differ from what is written there? Then it may be a different brand of vacuum glass.

3. The spacers (the small dots)

The small dots between the glass sheets are the spacers. They prevent the glass layers from touching each other when vacuum is applied.

Only for BENG glass:

  • Placement: always every 55 mm
  • Color: non-reflective anthracite, so they do not glow in sunlight

Other brands of vacuum glass often have a spacing of between 25 and 40 mm or use other colors of spacers.

4. The distinctive edge seal

Every vacuum glass has a visible edge, but BENG glass has some unique features:

  • Rounded corners that help maintain the vacuum for a long time
  • Edge height: approximately 9 mm
  • Overall height including absorption strip(s): 13-14 mm
  • Colors: white, dark red or light yellow
(With BENG glass, green or other different colors never occur).
