General

Why should I choose BENGglas?

BENGglas is not ordinary glass – it is a revolutionary solution for sustainable and future-proof building. Compared to standard insulation glass, BENGglas offers unique advantages that directly improve both your home and the climate.

  • Superior insulation: with a U-value starting from 0.35 W/m²K, BENGglas is twice as effective as triple glazing (0.70) and even three times better than double glazing (1.10). This means significant energy savings and lower heating costs.
  • Long lifespan: while traditional glass lasts an average of 25 years, BENGglas lasts up to 50 years. Produce once, less CO₂, and half a century of benefits!
  • Sustainable and environmentally friendly: thanks to less material use (30% less glass than triple glazing), BENGglas saves thousands of tons of CO₂ annually. This way, you actively contribute to a cleaner planet.
  • Light and thin: at only 8.3 mm thick, BENGglas fits in almost any existing frame and allows for lighter hardware, making construction sustainable and efficient.
  • A true climate hero: if all of the Netherlands switches to BENGglas, we can save up to 4.1 megatons of CO₂ annually — that's equivalent to 170,000 car trips from Amsterdam to Paris! Moreover, the production of BENGglas alone results in 24,000 tons less CO₂ emissions per year.
  • A smart investment in the future: less energy consumption, less maintenance, and a longer lifespan make BENGglas a choice that benefits you for years – for yourself and for future generations.

In short: with BENGglas you choose maximum energy efficiency, sustainability, and a smart investment in the future. Make a difference, for your home and for our planet.

Why is BENGglas a smart investment?

Because you don't just buy glass, but a future-proof solution that really saves money and energy. BENGglas has an insulation value starting from 0.35 W/m²K — that's 2x better than triple glazing (0.70) and even 3x better than double glazing (1.1). Less heat loss immediately means lower heating costs. This also means a better energy label and therefore a higher property value. The effective payback period is often 0 years.

But that's not all. BENGglas lasts up to 50 years, while standard glass typically needs to be replaced after 25 years. Invest once, and you're set for two generations. That means less maintenance, less replacement, and thus lower total costs.

The environment also benefits: if the whole of the Netherlands switches to BENGglas, we save no less than 4.1 megatons of CO₂ annually — comparable to 170,000 car trips from Amsterdam to Paris. Less CO₂ emissions and a lower energy bill: that's what we call an investment that pays for itself.

In short: with BENGglas you invest in sustainability, comfort, and financial savings. Smart, right?

Is single glazing a defect?

Single glazing? That will soon be a problem.
The court in Amsterdam has ruled that single glazing in rental properties can be considered a defect. This could have significant consequences for at least a million homes in the Netherlands. In the case of this ruling, the landlord had to install double glazing within four months or reduce the rent (Telegraaf, 2024).

Fortunately, there is a smart solution:
BENGglas fits into existing frames, even if they currently have single glazing. This way, you can easily replace the glass with insulation glass that insulates up to twice as well as triple glazing — without the hassle of new frames.
For landlords who want to comply with the rules and make their properties more comfortable, BENGglas is a smart and sustainable choice.

What is the history of vacuum glass?

Vacuum glass was first patented in Germany in 1913. However, it took until 1996 for the first commercial products to appear — originating from Japan and South Korea. These early versions were still limited in use and not suitable for broader applications in construction.

The real breakthrough came in 2016, when LandGlass became the first in the world to market a fully tempered, tested, and certified vacuum glass: LandVac®. Since then, the technology has rapidly evolved — resulting in high-quality, reliable, and durable titanium vacuum glass.

In 2019, Fineo (from AGC) followed, intended for lighter applications. But those who choose maximum performance in terms of insulation, safety, and durability opt for LandVac.

BENGglas is the exclusive importer of LandVac in the Netherlands, Belgium, and several other European countries.

Sustainability

The enormous CO₂ benefit of a massive switch to BENGglas: this is what it really delivers!

If the whole of the Netherlands switches to BENGglas, we achieve a structural CO₂ saving of no less than 4.1 megatons per year — that is equivalent to 170,000 car trips from Amsterdam to Paris! In production alone, BENGglas saves more than 24,000 tons of CO₂ annually. For an average house, BENGglas means a saving of 1,800 kg CO₂ per year, which can amount to as much as 90,000 kg CO₂ per house over 50 years. This directly contributes to achieving our climate goals: it can realize more than 8% of the CO₂ reduction in the built environment by 2030 and helps the Netherlands become climate neutral by 2050. It is not just glass, it is a revolution in sustainable building.

Why is BENGglas the game changer that helps solve the climate crisis?

The climate crisis calls for radically different solutions. Yet the biggest energy leak in buildings often remains invisible: the glass. BENGglas is not just insulation glass, but a groundbreaking technology with a U-value starting from 0.35 W/m²K — almost twice as good as triple glazing (0.70) and three times better than HR++ (1.10). Moreover, BENGglas lasts an average of 50 years, twice as long as traditional glass, and is produced with 30% less material compared to HR+++ glass.

That concretely means:

  • Only one production cycle every 50 years, with 50% less raw materials and transport
  • Structurally 50% less CO₂ emissions during production
  • Up to 30% less glass volume and lighter weight, saving building materials and installation time
  • Suitable for any existing frame thanks to the revolutionary thickness of just 8.3 mm

BENGglas combines enormous energy savings with a drastic reduction in environmental impact — an innovation that is not only smarter but also indispensable in the energy transition.

Is BENGglas sustainably and environmentally friendly produced?

Absolutely. BENGglas is produced by LandVac, a world leader in vacuum glass and an absolute frontrunner in the industry. LandVac combines advanced technology with a strong focus on sustainability, making BENGglas not only superior in insulation performance but also in terms of environmental friendliness.

The production takes place in a state-of-the-art factory that runs entirely on green energy, generated by a nearby reservoir and a large number of solar panels. These renewable energy sources ensure an extremely low CO₂ footprint during the production process.

Additionally, BENGglas is equipped with the CIC Green Product Certification, an internationally recognized label that demonstrates the product meets the highest standards in sustainability, environmental friendliness, and socially responsible production. This certification confirms that BENGglas is a future-proof product that not only contributes to energy savings in buildings but also to reducing the impact on our planet.

With BENGglas, you choose groundbreaking insulation glass that is made in a responsible and sustainable way — insulation glass that makes a difference, from production to years of use.

What is the U-value and why is it important?

The U-value indicates how well glass insulates. Simply put: the lower the U-value, the better the glass retains heat in the winter – and keeps it out in the summer. This way, you save on your energy bill and increase your living comfort.
The U-value is influenced by various factors, such as:

  • The coating on the glass
  • The filling between the glass layers (e.g., air, gas, or vacuum)
  • The cavity width – thus the space between the glass layers

How does BENGglas score compared to other types of glass?
Here is an overview of the average U-values per type of glass:

  • Single glazing: 5.8 (insulation? Hardly.)
  • Double glazing: 1.10
  • Triple glazing: 0.70
  • Other vacuum glass types: between 0.45 and 0.70
  • BENGglas: from 0.35 to 0.50

In short: BENGglas has by far the best insulation value of all.
This way, you save extra on your energy bill!

*U-values measured according to the standards EN 674:2011 and ISO 19916-1:2018 by ift Rosenheim (2025).

What is the insulation value (U-value) of BENGglas?

BENGglas has an exceptionally low U-value starting from 0.35 W/m²K, which means that the glass insulates extremely well. For comparison: this is twice as good as triple glazing (approximately 0.70 W/m²K) and three times better than standard double glazing (around 1.10 W/m²K). Thanks to this excellent insulation value, BENGglas significantly saves on energy costs and helps make your home more comfortable and sustainable. Moreover, this U-value is supported by reliable European testing institutes such as ift Rosenheim and TÜV Rheinland, with recent reports from 2025 that you can consult in our knowledge base. This way, you can be sure that you are choosing quality and maximum energy savings.

What glass thickness do I need?

BENGglas is available in various thicknesses, so we always have the perfect match for your windows. This prevents distortion, warping, and other issues.
The larger the glass, the thicker the build. The glass thickness is determined based on the surface area of a single pane:

  • 8.3 mm: up to 3 m²
  • 10.3 mm: from 3 to 4 m²
  • 12.3 mm: from 4 to 4.8 m²
  • 16.3 mm: from 4.8 m²

Is BENGglas too thin for your frames? No problem!
BENGglas is ultra-thin, but if your frames are wider than 16.3 mm, we can also thicken (BENGglas Hybrid) or laminate the glass. This way, it fits perfectly into wider profiles without needing to replace your frames.

Not sure which thickness is best for your windows? No stress, we are happy to help you with personalized advice that fully matches your situation!

Is BENGglas soundproof glass?

BENGglas is not only very strong in insulation but also effective in blocking sound. We measure this with the RW (C; Ctr) values — the higher the number, the quieter your home becomes.

Here are the figures at a glance:

  • Double glazing has a general sound insulation of about 31 dB, with a range of 30 to 27 dB at low and high frequencies.
  • Triple glazing scores slightly better with a general value of 33 dB, but at low and high frequencies, the sound level can vary from 31 to 27 dB.
  • BENGglas goes a step further with a general sound insulation of 36 dB and performs very consistently at low and high tones between 34 and 33 dB.

What does that mean for you? BENGglas keeps sound out better, especially those annoying low tones that you quickly suffer from.

This way, you not only enjoy a lower energy bill but also a much quieter and more comfortable home.

What is the LTA value and why is it important?

The LTA value (light admission factor) indicates how much natural daylight enters through the glass. The higher the value, the more light enters your home — and you notice that immediately. Daylight not only makes your home more pleasant to live in but also helps save energy. The more light that comes in, the less often you need to turn on the lights.

More or less light? You choose

Not every room needs the same amount of light. In a home or building with a lot of glass or direct sunlight, a lower LTA value can be beneficial. This way, you prevent bright glare, overheating, or discoloration of furniture and floors. That's why BENGglas offers different glass variants — from clear to more sun-blocking — with high and lower LTA values, depending on the function of the room and the orientation of your facades. Whatever you choose: your insulation is always top-notch, with a U-value up to 0.35.

Want to know what best suits your plans? We are happy to think along with you.

What is the G-value and why is it so important?

The G-value (solar heat gain coefficient) indicates how much solar heat enters through the glass. So: how much free heat from the sun do you actually feel inside?
Good to know: no matter which G-value you choose, with BENGglas you are always assured of excellent insulation – much better than HR++ or triple glazing.
And you'll notice: your house loses less heat, stays at temperature longer, and you need to heat less. Especially in winter or in older homes, this significantly reduces your energy bill.

What does differ: how much solar heat and daylight you let in.

  • Higher G-value → more solar heat inside. Great for bright spaces or cold facades.
  • Lower G-value → more solar heat blocked. Ideal for lots of glass, warm rooms, or summer sun.

You choose what suits you
BENGglas is available in various versions, each with its own balance between light, heat, and sun protection.

Do you want extra daylight? Block more sun? Or a bit of both? You decide what is important — and whatever you choose:

  • it fits perfectly in your existing frames
  • it is slim, light, and super insulating
  • it contributes to a more comfortable indoor climate

Are you unsure what works best in your situation? We are happy to think along with you.

What are spacers and why are they always in vacuum glass?

If you have ever looked closely at vacuum glass, you might see them: small dots between the two glass panes. We call them spacers.

Spacers are tiny supports in the vacuum cavity (the space between the glass panes). They ensure that the glass layers are not drawn towards each other when the air between them is removed. Without these supports, the glass could literally break due to the pressure.
At BENGglas, the spacers are:

  • Placed only every 55 mm – which is much less than other brands of vacuum glass.
  • Anthracite in color, making them much less noticeable than clear or silver-colored variants that reflect light.

Advantage for you?
A beautiful, calm, and unobstructed view through your windows, without disturbing reflections or a 'grid'-like effect that you sometimes see with other types of vacuum glass.

Note: during the condensation season, you may notice a kind of 'dam' pattern on the glass. This means that condensation forms everywhere on the pane, except around the spacers. This is because these small supports conduct heat slightly better, causing moisture on the outside to set less quickly.
Fortunately, there are special anti-condensation coatings available that can help reduce this effect, so your windows continue to look beautiful for longer — even in humid conditions.

What does safety glass mean?

Safety glass means that when the glass breaks, it does not shatter into large, sharp pieces, but into small, blunt granules. This significantly reduces the risk of injuries — extra nice for the safety in your home or building.

  • Tempered glass (safety glass): breaks into small, round granules that are not sharp.
  • Untempered glass: breaks into large, sharp shards that can be dangerous.

At BENGglas, we consider safety very important. That is why our entire range is standard tempered and therefore safety glass.

What is tempered glass?

Tempered glass is five times stronger than regular, untempered glass. How is that possible? The glass is first heated to a high temperature and then rapidly cooled. This process makes it much more resistant to impact and large temperature differences (thermal breakage is completely eliminated).

And if the glass does break, it shatters into small, blunt pieces (injury-safe) instead of dangerous sharp shards. Extra safe, especially if you have children or pets.

With many brands of vacuum glass, tempered glass is not (always) possible. But with BENGglas, it is! This way, you always get strong and safe glass from us, even if you choose a thin variant.

What are the advantages of the titanium in the vacuum glass?

Only at BENGglas do you get titanium vacuum glass from LandVac — one of the many unique aspects that sets BENGglas apart.
This allows you to immediately benefit from powerful advantages:

  • Titanium spacers reduce heat conduction by as much as 70%
  • Titanium absorption strips extend the product's lifespan
  • Flexible edge sealing reduces stress by 90% and increases bending strength by 40%

If you choose titanium vacuum glass from BENGglas, you choose a longer lifespan, maximum strength, and superior insulation!

What is the lifespan of BENGglas?

BENGglas not only lasts longer than traditional insulating glass, it also continues to perform as if it were just installed. While the U-value (insulation value) of standard insulating glass decreases after a few years, it remains stable with BENGglas – for years.

How do we know that? In the lab, the conditions of 25 years of use are simulated. Afterwards, the U-value was found to be exactly the same. That’s why we confidently guarantee a lifespan of 25 years. The expected lifespan? No less than 50 years.

And with a warranty of up to 20 years, you are well above the standard with BENGglas — that is 10 years more than what is common in the glass industry.

What are the minimum and maximum dimensions of BENGglas?

The smallest standard size of BENGglas is 200 × 230 mm. Smaller is sometimes possible, as long as the diagonal is at least 300 mm.
The largest size? 2,350 × 4,150 mm – unique in the world of vacuum glass and another good example of why BENGglas stands out.

Does BENGglas contain heavy metals?

No. BENGglas has been extensively tested for the presence of heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury, and chromium-6, as well as for harmful substances such as PBBs (polybrominated biphenyls) and PBDEs (polybrominated diphenyl ethers).
The RoHS tests show that BENGglas does not contain these substances – which is certainly beneficial for both people and the environment!

What is the delivery time for BENGglas?

The delivery time is approximately 12 to 14 working weeks.
If you choose BENGglas Monu Restover, please allow for an additional 3 weeks.

What is the advantage of titanium vacuum glass?

In vacuum glass, everything revolves around innovation – and at BENGglas, we are leading the way!
With our exclusive Titanium Vacuum Glass technology, we set a new standard that you won't find anywhere else.

This unique technology provides:

  • 70% less heat loss thanks to titanium spacers
  • Longer lifespan with titanium getters
  • 90% less stress and 40% more bending strength due to flexible titanium sealing
  • Extra resistance to corrosion and wear, even under harsh conditions
  • Lower energy consumption, all year round

In short: when you choose titanium, you choose maximum lifespan, strength, and insulation!

When do I choose laminated glass?

Layered vacuum glass is used in places where, in addition to insulation, extra safety, soundproofing, or structural strength is important. Think of glass at height, roof glazing, or in situations where you have a high noise load.

In many cases, it is even mandatory, for example, if there is a risk of falling through or in roofs. The film between the glass layers ensures that the glass does not shatter into sharp shards upon breakage – making it safer and more comfortable for daily use.

  • Facades
Standard BENG glass is double-sided injury-safe: it breaks into small granules. In facades with height differences, layered glass is mandatory to avoid the risk of falling through.
Thanks to the built-in UV filter in the PVB film, furniture and floors discolor less quickly.
  • Roof glazing
When glass is above your head, safety is not a choice but a requirement. Layered vacuum glass is the standard here: upon breakage, it stays together and prevents shards from falling down. Daylight still comes in, while the UV filter prevents discoloration of floors and furniture.
  • Living near noise? More peace inside?
Sounds from (air) traffic, neighbors, or a schoolyard can be disturbing. With acoustically layered glass, the noise level noticeably decreases. A special interlayer in the glass absorbs part of the sound vibrations – ideal for bedrooms, workspaces, or simply more peace in the living room.

Can I fit laminated vacuum glass in my existing frames?

In most cases, yes. Laminated BENGglas is available from just 13.06 mm thick, which is thinner than triple glazing. Not sure if it will fit? We can help you, or put you in touch with a certified installer in your area.

What is the difference between EVA, PVB, and SGP in laminated glass?

At BENGglas, you can choose from three different films between the glass layers: EVA, PVB, and SGP. They all ensure that the glass stays neatly together in the event of breakage, but each type has its own advantages.

  • EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) is versatile in application, highly resistant to moisture, clear, and suitable for most standard applications.
  • PVB (Polyvinyl Butyral) is considered the industry standard in construction and within the NEN standards.
  • PVB SoundControl this variant of standard PVB has additional soundproofing properties.
  • SGP (SentryGlas Plus) is the ultimate option: SGP can be up to five times stronger and up to 100 times stiffer than PVB, allowing for thinner glass constructions that still meet the same safety standards. SGP is also more resistant to moisture and extremely clear.

We are happy to help you choose which film suits your project.

Concepts

What is the PSI value and why is it important?

When it comes to heat loss through your windows, it's not just about the glass itself. The transition from the glass to the frame also plays a significant role. And that is exactly what the PSI value is about.

The PSI value indicates the heat loss per meter of edge of the window – precisely where the glass meets the frame. The lower that value, the less heat is lost along the edges of your window.
The PSI value is measured at a temperature difference of 1 °C between inside and outside, per linear meter. In other words: how well does your window keep the cold out, even at the edges?
A low PSI value = less heat loss = lower energy costs.

What does this mean in practice?
The insulation value of the glass is important, but the frame and that edge zone (the transition) count just as much. Here you can see what to expect with BENGglas in different combinations:

  • Aluminum frame + BENGglas Hybrid
    PSI value: 0.035 – 0.04
  • Wooden frame + BENGglas
    PSI value: 0.05 – 0.09
  • Aluminum frame + standard BENGglas
    PSI value: 0.09

What does RW (C; Ctr) mean?

The sound insulation is expressed in a so-called Rw (C; Ctr) value. What does that mean exactly?

  • Rw is the standard sound reduction value in decibels (dB).
  • C is a correction for sound with many high tones, such as playing children or fast road traffic.
  • Ctr is a correction for sound with many low tones, such as humming city traffic or a nearby club.

The higher the Rw value, the better the glass blocks sound. But if you are greatly affected by low tones (such as traffic or loud bass), then the Rw + Ctr value says the most about the actual insulation.

An example:

A value of Rw (C; Ctr) = 30 (-1; -4) means that the glass reduces sound by an average of 30 dB, but in practice:

  • 29 dB for higher tones (Rw + C)
  • 26 dB for low tones (Rw + Ctr)

What are the scores per glass type?

  • HR++: 31 dB (-1; -4)
  • HR+++: 33 dB (-2; -6)
  • BENGglas: 36 dB (-2; -3)

And you can see that reflected in practice:

  • HR++ glass reduces sound between 30 and 37 dB, depending on pitch.
  • HR+++ ranges between 31 and 27 dB – less effective with low tones.
  • BENGglas remains stable with 34 to 33 dB — thus strong performance at all pitches.

In short:
With BENGglas, you choose not only top insulation against cold, but also peace in the house.

What exactly is laminated vacuum glass?

Laminated BENGglas offers enormous possibilities: you can choose from three types of films (EVA, PVB, or SentryGlas Plus) and an almost unlimited range of counterpanes.

All types of films ensure that no shards come loose in case of breakage. But it doesn't stop there – you benefit from many more smart advantages. Each type of film has unique properties, giving the pane – in addition to the superior insulation value of BENGglas – many extras, such as:

  • fall-through safety – safe at height, for all building functions
  • burglary resistance – not easy to get through
  • extra sound insulation – from -36 dB to -39 dB or even more, noticeably quieter

Which ventilation grilles are suitable for BENGglas?

Ventilation grilles ensure a fresh air supply in your home, even when your windows and doors are closed. They help to remove moisture, thus ensuring a healthy indoor climate. Especially with well-insulated glass like BENGglas, good ventilation is extra important, because otherwise the house becomes too 'tight' and moisture problems can arise; insulating and ventilating often go hand in hand.

The good news?

There is a ventilation grille that works perfectly with BENGglas! The company Duco offers the type GlasVent ZR AK (+), specially designed to work well with vacuum glass. This way, you enjoy optimal insulation and fresh air.

What do we mean by extra applications:

How do I claim a warranty at BENGglas?

We do everything we can to deliver your BENG glass perfectly and carefully check each pane for insulation value before it leaves the factory. However, sometimes something can go wrong, for example during transport or installation. No worries! We are ready to assist your glazier quickly and efficiently.
Important: Did you order your BENG glass through a glazier? Then the warranty request always goes through them. Did you order directly from us? Then you can contact us directly.

For a quick and smooth warranty process, we need the following information:

  • Name and contact person of the company
  • Order number
  • Dimensions of the defective pane (height x width)
  • Brief description of the problem
  • Photos of the entire pane, preferably from the inside
  • Close-up photos of the defect, also from the inside

The clearer the information, the faster we can assist you with the warranty request. Once we receive the request, we will contact you as soon as possible and arrange the next steps together.

Documentation

Does BENGglas have a CE marking?

There is currently no harmonized European standard that requires vacuum glass to fall under a CE marking. Therefore, BENGglas (yet) does not have a CE marking.
But that does not mean you have to doubt the quality. BENGglas has been extensively tested and certified.

Since its market introduction in 2016 (via Landvac), BENGglas has proven to be a reliable and innovative product, with no less than 452 patents!
Moreover, BENGglas has important quality declarations and reports, such as:

  • U-value reports per type of glass
  • Hardening reports for safety and strength
  • A BCRG declaration, an independent quality and safety mark
  • CIC Green Product Certification for environmental friendliness
  • Sound value reports for optimal sound insulation

All these certificates ensure that by choosing BENGglas, you are opting for a product that meets high quality standards, even though there is no official CE marking.

How reliable is the U-value of BENGglas?

At BENGglas, we take quality seriously. That's why all our U-values are confirmed by renowned European testing institutes such as ift Rosenheim and TÜV Rheinland. The most recent reports, dating from 2025, are transparently available in our knowledge base. Important to know: not all vacuum glass suppliers can provide such solid European test reports. With BENGglas, you can be sure that you are choosing proven insulation performance.

Does BENGglas have a BCRG statement?

Yes, all types of BENGglas come with an official BCRG declaration. This certification represents independent quality and safety control and is an important proof that BENGglas meets strict requirements in terms of sustainability, safety, and performance.

The BCRG declaration gives you extra confidence in the reliability of BENGglas, in addition to other certificates and reports such as U-value reports, tempering reports, and sound insulation reports.

LandVac

What is the difference between BENGglas and LandVac?

BENGglas is the brand, LandVac the technology.
LandVac is the producer of the vacuum glass, and BENGglas is the exclusive and thus official distributor in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and various other countries in Europe. That means: direct access to the best technology and a network of professionals who know exactly how to expertly install the glass.

Why does BENGglas choose LandVac?

Because LandVac simply offers the highest standard.
LandVac was the first producer in the world to bring fully tempered and certified vacuum glass to the market. In addition, LandVac uses unique titanium technology, which ensures a lifespan of up to 50 years and a constant insulation value up to U=0.35. Each panel is also rigorously tested immediately after production. So you are guaranteed top quality, without surprises. Additionally, LandVac is produced in the high-tech factory of LandGlass (230,000 m² in size), with its own R&D center and more than 450 patents. The production meets international standards and is confirmed by European testing institutes such as IFT and TÜV.
