Making school "Ciske de Rat" more sustainable with BENG glass extension windows
In collaboration with Koek & Reinders Schilderwerken, BENG glass has been used here for the sustainability and renovation of the Public Primary School known from the film 'Ciske de Rat'.
In this case, the existing single glazing (U=5.8) has been replaced by vacuum glass from the brand BENGglas . The choice fell on the ' BENG glass ' type with a U-value of 0.40. This has led to a significant improvement in the insulation value of the glass, namely 14 times better. This will not only achieve a better energy label, but will also save on the gas bill.
Due to the small thickness of BENGglas (8.3 mm), the insulating glass could be installed effortlessly in the existing window frames. As a result, the characteristic appearance has been retained and it has not been necessary to replace the window frames.
An additional advantage of the vacuum insulating glass is the fantastic sound insulation. In the standard variant of 8.3 mm thickness, the sound insulation is 36 dB. If a laminated version of the BENG glass were chosen, this attenuation would increase to no less than 39 dB.
